MID DAY TOUR at Marari

MID DAY TOUR at Marari

At 10.30 AM, join a local village girl as your guide for a tour of the nearby fishing village to witness the morning activities of a fishing community. Your mode of transport will be an auto rickshaw (Tuk Tuk). Life in the villages around Mararikulam is both fascinating and heartwarming. Boats unloading fresh catch from the sea, workers carrying the catch from the boat to the shore, middlemen bargaining for their stock, women hurrying to load baskets with the freshest fish, and retailers heading to the harbour for their livelihood — life here is always bustling with activity. Be in the midst of the crowd, watch them closely, and capture memorable moments with your camera. If possible, feel free to interact with them.

Meanwhile, you can also enjoy a cup of chai (tea) along with some local snacks like Kozhukkatta, banana fritters, bonda, etc. Your harbour visit is not just to observe the activities, but to experience them as well. After spending about an hour at the harbour, together with your local guide, purchase some fresh fish from the market. Take it to a nearby local house, where the hostess will be happy to prepare the fish you just bought. Enjoy the process of cleaning and cooking while learning about the various spices used in Kerala cuisine. Relish the freshly cooked fish served with rice, vegetables, salad, and tea.

After your meal, your friendly local guide will take you to a nearby house to see how doormats are made from coconut fibre. You can watch the entire handmade process, and if you wish, try making one yourself.

By the end of the tour, you will find this to be a truly eye-opening and memorable experience.
