Kerala is the land of Spices but at the same time it is also the land of sea food as well. The costal stretch of Kerala is about 590 kms. Thus this narrow strip of land gets various varieties of fish from the sea, other than from rivers and backwaters. Chellaanam fishing harbour is very close to Cochin city, a very beautiful same time a natural harbour too. Here one can see around 100 traditional boats landing and the fishermen carries the fresh catch from their boat and brings to the main land. Middle man, called Tharakan in the local language, bargains for the best price from the wholesale agents as well as retailers. Meanwhile, find ladies rushing collecting fresh fish from the boats.
